TMD Medi-Spa now has the Palomar Starlux IPL.  This powerful device emits broad-spectrum light that is very useful for photofacials and hair removal. An IPL Photofacial treats sun damage, sun spots, broken capillaries, redness and rosacea.  It is best for lighter skin types.  The IPL also does hair removal, similar to a laser.  In addition to our Comet hair removal laser, the Starlux IPL will give us additional treatment options, especially for lighter and finer hair treatment.  Check out our IPL Photofacials page and book an appointment today!

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacials will soon be available at TMD Medi-spa (probably next week)! We are acquiring a Palomar Starlux which allows us to perform both photofacials and IPL hair removal. This treatment rejuvenates the skin from sun damage and the unwanted effects of aging. It is especially effective again rosacea, sun spots, and irregular skin texture. As an introductory price, a photofacial is only $200 for the whole face!

Freedom-2 has just released its long-awaited ink, called Infinitink.  This is the ink that is purported to be twice as easily taken off with laser tattoo removal than the typical organic-based tattoo ink.  To the best of our knowledge, the initial ink color that is offered at this time is black.  The formulation of Freedom-2 ink has evolved in their press releases.  Initially touted as being micro-encapsulated dye, the ink is currently not microencapsulated.  Rather, it is more easily disintegrated by laser but otherwise just as permanent as regular tattoo ink, according to our communications with Freedom-2.
According to the Freedom-2 newsletter, several metropolitan areas in the US have artists that are the first to receive the new ink.  In the Socal area, La Jolla Tattoos is the only studio listed.

Kasey, our licensed esthetician, has recently received specialized training on deep tissue sculpting.  Deep tissue sculpting is a beginning myofascial release technique.  The therapist uses his/her elbows, sides of forearms, heel of palms, thumbs, fingers, and knuckles.  The actual technique is either slow, deep, and sinks into the muscle belly or slow, deep, and sinks into the insertions, proceeding to a smooth deep sculpting stroke up through the muscle belly to the muscle origin. The results can be threefold: a realease of deep muscular tension, heightened myoskeletal awareness, and the release of emotional tension in the body.

This is not a separate service.  Rather, Kasey will be integrating this technique into her current practice of facials and massage.  Just one more reason to try our esthetician services!

This is a question that we often get asked.  Since a tattoo takes quite a long time to put on, people assume that laser tattoo removal usually takes a while also.  Actually, the laser is incredibly fast.  When using the Medlite YAG laser, a 5 square inch tattoo, for instance, can be treated in less than 1 minute.  The rapid-fire rate on the laser and the large spot size is what allows the treatment to progress so rapidly.  Occasionally, the speed is decreased for patient comfort, but most people prefer it to go rapidly.

The part that takes patience in laser tattoo removal is the requirement to come back for additional visits.  A single treatment is almost never sufficient to erase a tattoo.  Also, enough time must elapse between treatments, preferrably at least 4 weeks, to allow the treatment to be fully adequate.   Each tattoo removal treatment is quite, though, and if you get the anethetic cream to put on at home prior to your treatment, you could make your tattoo removal visits to Tattoo MD Laser Clinic both convenient and fast.
